I just returned from Fairfax rink. Skated. I skated okay.
I think I might skate tomorrow at Cabin John... because, I need to skate more.

EDIT: good grief. It took me forever to get that profile pic up.
I am really really not so good at this blogger thing yet.
I am sorry.
I am learning.... sorry
I am a super fabulous figure skater/ice dancer, but this tech stuff... hurts my brain. *whimpers* I can't help it. I'm stooopid

<3 style="font-weight: bold;">I will update in a minute... things to do, litter boxes to clean

If you want me to add you to my bloggie roll... just lemme know and I will put you on my blogroll fast as lightning.
see what I did? I did that. I figured it out--->>>

Someday, I am going to learn how to make a "blog roll" give me some time...

What a day.
I did not skate today because I was grumpy and.... and stiff.
We received 7 inches of snow here (it does not look like it in these pics because... I took these this morning after some sleet last night and now it is melty) and clearing the driveway and the sidewalk (sidewalks - state law) was a lot of work, but you know. I love doing that stuff, sweating, and slaving. It makes me buff and I get more snacks, extra chocolate and huge mus-kles.

look, you can see the "funny" morphed houses across the street

I did some laundry. goodie.
Hubby and I went for a long walk around the neighborhood. Everything is melting quickly and it is puddly everywhere. We wore our snow boots and klomped around - mostly in the woods.

One reason I did not drive out to Cabin John was that I just got my car all cleaned ($10 carwash) and wonderful, shiny on Friday and then this snowstorm came.... Hubby wanted me to take that dopey purpleygrey Buick Car ^ up there. It is a "courtesy car" from Saab, because the Saab is getting a whole new transmission and will be in the shop for a few weeks.... anyway.
I drive the Mazda now because the seats are softer and cushier for my super athletic butt and the added benefit is the Mazda does not drive like a rocket, which keeps me out of trouble (personal choice there). I did not feel like driving that stoopid courtesy car!!!! It looks oooglie and I did not feel like driving a rental car. grrrrr. So. I did not skate. I know. I am still an impossible crab.

Sometimes I even amaze myself. If I had driven this purpleygrey bomb to the rink... I would have had a fun time.
You see, finally in the end... hubby said "go ahead and drive your clean car, it is okay"... but I could not do that because, after so many years of marriage, I have acquired his clean car obsession.

I have more snow pictures but they will have to wait for another time, because I have to create something for dinner now.
Tomorrow... I am going to the rink. I have gotten so bad about skating. bad bad bad
Today would have been fun, and totally worth a dirty car... oh well.

Okay. Now I really need to go.

Yesterday, I went to Iraq, Greece and Egypt.
I love Google Earth. What a fun waste of time.

Sometimes... I hate being a girl. The suffering we endure.
I feel like someone whacked my back with a board. Just ow. I have taken a zillion ibuprofens today too.

We are getting more trash weather tonight and tomorrow.
We have a winter storm warning... I am so mad about it. I just want nice fluffy snow.
I hate ice

Did I just say I hate ice?

I hate icy weather.

I am feeling like a lazy slob, but really it is just, hmmmyeah, see above. ow
I forced myself to finish sewing the last valence for our bedroom windows. It looks nice. I am so glad I am done with those windows...
now I have a few other sewing projects but *sigh* I will wait. Hubby said we could drive out to the fabric store this evening, (he would hang around the book store next door) but really... I do not feel like it (quite frankly, I feel like eating an entire chocolate cake). If the weather is crummy tomorrow, I won't feel like sewing. I will make some more of those cinnamon rolls, and play the piano.

Christina's boy friend is coming over tomorrow (I will discourage him if the weather is really that bad)
He is going to talk with hubby about some job offers he has received. Jason is a good guy.
Hubby is glad to help with all things US Government.
I am looking forward to seeing Jason tomorrow (weather permitting).

Knowing that tomorrow is going to be messy, hubby and I were encouraged (yeah right hahahaha) to go for a walk today. brrrr it is chilly out, but we walked two whole miles. Hubby walks faster than me sometimes *pant pant* and it kept me warm moving quickly, and I even had a hot flash

I have not heard anything from my parents... my mom in particular. I have a feeling that she tore the meniscus in her knee, when she told me about her injury last week. She refused to put ice on it because it made her feel cold, but after one bad night after having a heat pad on all day, she finally did the ice pack thing and dad told me she felt a lot better. she has called the ortho/sports doc and she has an appointment for Monday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she is behaving today like I gently asked her (I am not a bossy child) and also hoping and praying that she is going to recover from this. My stomach started churning when she told me she could not stand on her injured leg
That does not make me feel good, mom....
My mom will go insane if she must be immobilized for a long period of time.

Anyway... Here are a few Google Earth pics, of my travels around the globe:

First I went to Crete.
Wowwwwww. Is that cool or what?

Look at this. I want to run away... let's go.

here is Baghdad...
Thaaaat's the Tigris River. Cool huh?

I do not want to run away to here.
They have bad traffic!!!! yeeeesh

Okay, one last picture.
this is Alexandria Egypt.
I would like to visit this place. How about you?

I must end here. Things to do, piano's to play, butts to kick - No, I mean I have to do my exercises too.
be well
you are loved

Wednesday ~ ah so happy to see Wednesday

Everything is dripping outside. It is 45 degrees. We even had pouring rain last night.
still, the concrete snow is out there.... however... I am so happy to see this stupid impossible mess melting .
This was horrible... 6 inches of the most miserable icy snow ever. You could not shovel it.
The plows made huge mountains of chunks.

Anyway, I hope everyone is well and happy.
Yesterday I skated at Cabin John rink and it was great, considering I have been a huge slacker on the ice.
I am getting my hair cut this afternoon (yes, I wear it short and sassy).
I think I will go with out a coat today :-D

Here are my two sweet old kitties Caesar and Princess.
They are 15 (almost 16, shooosh unbelievable)
They enjoy sleeping on the deck chair cushions in the sun room.
Caesar frequently uses Prinnie as a pillow

Happy Friday

This has been a busy and exhausting week.
Monday was the only opportunity I had to skate. Tuesday we had a snow storm, and I hung around the house, no... first, I drove to the fabric store in the morning to get some fabric to make some cute valences (knowing that I was going to be stuck in the house for a while) when I got home, hubby and I just watched the snow... and I sewed.
I did not shovel the driveway, because we were expecting ice over night (so it is better to let the snow stay on the drive and side walk) We did get a lot of ice and snow over night. It was freezing and very windy. So then the rest of the week, we just cleaned up the snow, I did a lot of cleaning in the house and e-mailed my parents and basically kept in touch with them after they lost power at 5:30 Tuesday night! They live an hour and a half away in Annapolis and the roads were even too horrible here for me to go and rescue them! Besides, they are tough and would not want to come over here anyway.. they like to be with their own stuff. My dad said this was not a big deal, because they lived in Holland during WW2 and went for two years with out electricity. Well, that is great dad, but... you and mom were only 20 years old then, not 80!

Today my oldest daughter took the train home from college (William and Mary). It is nice to see her. We just returned from eating dinner at the Clyde's restaurant in our neighborhood. I am really really full of food.

Here are the latest pics of Caesar and Prinnie.
They are old and very spoiled.. that is what happens when the girls go off to college... Caesar and Princess get way too much attention.. and they adore it.

Caesar loves the heat vent over the fridge
and he is still agile enough to jump up above the cabinets.
I have a few old towels up there for him to lounge on. Sometimes he sits up there for hours.... look at him up there glaring at me :-D mom, I did not give you permission to take my picture in such a drowsy state *snap* Heyyyy!

Okay well I still do not get the whole thing with putting pictures on. I guess this looks okay.
Prinnie loves fleece. she also loves being snuggly.

I am going to end here and wish everyone a super wonderful sunshiny week~end.

You can do anything, anything you want;
there is only one thing you must do...
pay the price.

I am sorry

I have been a terrible blogger. I have not been blogging much on my other bloggie either.
I am been busy, and a little bit lazy, but mostly busy.

I love Google Earth. Do you have it? I have several addresses that I have looked up, places that I have lived. Here is one, where I lived when I was 6 years old, until I was about 9.
You can click on it to make larger for easier viewing...
This is France!
I am very fortunate. Both of my parents are from the Netherlands, and then my father got a job in the US with the State Department... so we traveled a lot to visit relatives and lived in many places in Europe as well.

I dragged this screen shot into photoshop so that I could mark on it... then I sent it to my daughter in college.
I remember this house. It was a duplex. We lived on the left side. The front door was on the side of the house, and there was that garage in the back yard. I do not remember if we put our car in there. I do remember we had some huge spiders... I hated that.

Presently we are getting a little bit of snow here. I am not sure how this storm will go here. It is tricky to predict winter storms here on the east coast... especially around Virginia and Maryland.
The "jet stream" can be unpredictable, but I think there is a good possibility that we will wake up to three inches of salt and sand... because that is what those trucks like to do at night when there is winter weather in the forecast.

Here is a nice picture of Prinnie in the sun. She is a quiet sweet kitty, sister to the loud and spoiled Caesar that loves his mom. Prinnie. She handles things on her own.

I will try to blog more regularly. I have just had a zillionbillion things going on.

I absolutely adore reading your blogs.
The kitty blogs are wondermously sweet,
and the peeple blogs are lovely too.
Be well

Friday ~~~~ finally

I am deeply saddened that sometimes I visit my very own bloggggg and the pictures are not showing up. That makes me quite unhappy.

I have been "awake" since 7 am. Blizzie and I took a little trippie to the University of Mary Washington. We left early. It was kind of icey out but the main roads were just fine, and I married "Mr. AllthingsCarExpert" so I have fabulous snow/ice tires... (I even tested them on the 1/4 inch of icey driveway, backing out of the garage).
So, I dropped Blizzie off at the college. She is going to hang around there with her friend Sarah, (and also check out the music and French departments) and then I will pick up both girls this evening and bring them back to A-burn. It is about a 90 minute trip from door to door. Not bad.
Actually, at this point... I am hoping hubby will pick up the girls this evening... because he loves driving anyway, and he will be back around 5:00 from his business trip to California. I am pretty sure he will want to drive and do that. I need to pick him up from Dulles later.

This week~end should not be too busy. I do have bell choir practice Saturday evening.
Sunday we need to bring Blizzie back to Messiah College.

I have a few pictures that I recently removed from my camera.
The first one here are the yummy cinnamon rolls I made a few weeks ago.

Yes, these are gone now. Hubby and I ate a few and I froze four of them. Blizzie and I each had one yesterday. They were very good and very sugary. After you eat one... you feel very full of sugar :-)

This next picture is Prinnie.
She looks like a little mouse sometimes.
I think she might be part mouse... maybe her great great grandma was a mouse

This last picture is Caesar.
He does not have a snaggletooth but he does here :-P
This is really only half of him.
I hope you have the very best week~end <3
